Having a new baby is an exciting and rewarding experience! But if you are like most moms, you are probably excited to start getting your old body back. Most women can exercise shortly after giving birth, but make sure your doctor has approved physical fitness. Just like you asked delivery questions about options like pain management, umbilical cord blood banking and immunizations, bring your questions about post-delivery care for your body to your doctor. Breastfeeding mothers can benefit even more by getting in some easy physical activity each day.

Here are five exercises to incorporate into your new, busy routine: 

Yoga Stretches 

Gentle yoga is the perfect way to reintroduce your body to exercise again. You will relax and stretch out all of your achy limbs. Yoga is gentle and soothing to the body, and effective for strengthening muscles. It may also aid in weight loss. Try a beginner session to pinpoint where you are in your flexibility, and then move up to something harder when needed.

Plank Pose 

You may not have enough time to exercise daily, but getting in a quick movement like plank pose can make all of the difference. When doing plank, you hold your body in a push-up position for as long as possible. Thirty seconds to one minute is recommended. This is something all moms can do throughout their day to strengthen the shoulders, core and chest muscles. 

Walk Around The Park 

You will probably need to cover your baby with protective clothing in the sun, but a nice stroll around a pretty park in the morning or evening is a great way to exercise and bond with your brand-new baby. Young ones need fresh air as much as you do, and it will be great to give your little one some exposure to the great outdoors. 

Dance Around The House

It’s a little silly, but turn on some music and dance around the house. Babies love music, just make sure it isn’t too loud. Dancing while going about your household duties will burn calories and help get rid of the excess baby belly. As your little one gets older, he or she will probably giggle as you do silly moves. Dance together if your baby is old enough to support his or her head. 

Use A Mini Trampoline

A mini trampoline is a great way to get in quick bursts of low-impact cardio. They can be folded up and put away easily. You just pull it out when you want to do a quick workout, and put it away after. They are excellent for burning calories fast, and you can do it without spending a ton of money.

As your body becomes stronger and you have more energy, you can begin to kick up the intensity of your workouts. If anything ever hurts, stop immediately, stretch and give yourself time to recover. By taking the best care of yourself, you’ll be able to give your best to your baby.
